The Witcher Netflix Episode One Script Has Been Written

Netflix’s The Witcher adaptation is showing clear signs of progress. TV writer Lauren S. Hissrich recently tweeted that she has completed the first draft of the pilot script.

On her Twitter account, she uploaded an image of the completed script with a post stating that “The Witcher pilot is out for notes, and I’m out for the weekend to spend some time with my kids. See you bright and early on Monday!”

Lauren Schmidt Hissrich is an American television producer and screenwriter who is currently acting as the executive producer and showrunner of Netflix’s The Witcher adaptation. She is notable for having written and produced other Netflix shows like Daredevil and the Defenders.

Netflix’s The Witcher will be based on the original The Witcher book series by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski, who will also serve a creative consultant for the TV series. It will not be based on the CD Projekt Red’s highly successful The Witcher games because the story in the games technically takes place after the events of the books.

Netflix will be collaborating with Platige Image to develop the TV series. The Polish company is best known for making the cinematics for The Witcher games as well as the recent trailer for Total War SAGA Thrones of Britannia and the Cyberpunk 2077 teaser trailer.

There has been several The Witcher live-action adaptations in the past, including one feature film and a TV series. Both were given the title “The Hexer.” Sapkowski initially preferred to translate the original Polish title Wiedźmin into The Hexer, which means warlock in German.

Netflix’s The Witcher adaptation was originally announced in May 2017. The synopsis on Netflix describes the mutated monster hunter/witcher Geralt struggling to find his place in a world where people are often crueler than beasts. At the time of writing, no official release date has been announced and the actors/actresses involved in the show remains unconfirmed.
