Leaked Shenmue 3 Trailer Has Some Unfortunate Character Models

A leaked Shenmue 3 trailer has appeared online, showing off more of the closely guarded sequel, including some odd-looking character models.

As new details and screenshots of Shenmue 3 have emerged, fans have been a little concerned over its visual direction. Though Shenmue and Shenmue 2 were some of the best-looking games of their time, a lot has changed since the Dreamcast days, though Shenmue 3‘s character models seem to be stuck in the past.

With the game still set to launch later this year, the character models featured in the leaked trailer are quite questionable. Considering that Shenmue 3 is a story-driven game, hopefully the finished models look better and more capable of expressing emotion. Ryo in particular is afflicted with a permanent wide-eyed stare.

Check out the leaked trailer below:

Shenmue 3 is set to release at some point in 2018, with developer Ys Net yet to dish out a definitive release date. The game has been a long time coming, so expectations are understandably high after over a decade of waiting for the sequel.

While the leaked trailer may be blurry, the weird character models can be seen in all their glory in a new batch of Shenmue 3 screenshots. Marvel at those blank expressions and porcelain smooth faces in the gallery below:
