CD Projekt Red gave out a few juicy details about Cyberpunk 2077 at the Pareto Securities Gaming Seminar last week. The developer seems to be keen on increasing the already extreme levels of anticipation for the game.
Since CD Projekt Red owns GOG, some players were worried that Cyberpunk 2077 would be exclusive to that digital distribution platform. Speaking to PCGamer, CD Projekt Red CEO Adam Kicinski is here to put all their fears to rest by confirming that it will definitely be available on Steam as well.

He adds that Cyberpunk 2077 is the company’s new The Witcher 3 but it will also be more ambitious. This time around, their goal is to “establish a new blockbuster franchise from the beginning.” Although it is a new futuristic universe, it is still a “true RPG, like Witcher, like Witcher 3, for mature audiences.” He described the game as “handcrafted, detailed, of course open-world, with open-ended gameplay.”
Kicinski also revealed that CD Projekt Red has “enjoyed a really huge increase” of internal sales via GOG, a big part of which came from the GWENT project. Additionally, players who secretly wish for a Witcher sequel will be disappointed to learn that there will most certainly not be a Witcher 4.
Kicinski explains that they cannot create The Witcher 4 “because that was a trilogy from the beginning.” He adds, “No one said that one day we won’t decide to develop something in the Witcher universe. But now we’re focusing on Cyberpunk and Gwent.” A Witcher spin-off, perhaps?
Earlier this month, Kicinski reassured gamers that CD Projekt Red will not include loot boxes or unnecessary microtransactions. Iwiński previously stated that all of the Polish developer’s past releases, including The Witcher 3 and GWENT, proves that players should always receive a polished piece of content with many hours of fun gameplay when they purchase a full-priced game.
