Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has announced a Limited Edition God of War PS4 Pro bundle. It will launch alongside the game on April 20th, 2018. The God of War PS4 Pro bundle will contain a fully customized PS4 Pro console with a design inspired by Kratos’ Axe, a Dualshock 4 wireless controller with a Leviathan Gray color scheme decked with insignia, a physical copy of God of War, as well as extra digital content.
In a post on PlayStation Blog, SIE PlayStation Marketing Vice President Mary Yee spoke with Santa Monica Studio Head Shannon Studstill about the inspiration behind the special design of the God of War-themed PS4 Pro. She said that the top surface of the PS4 Pro is adorned with the skill tree that players will be using in the game to upgrade their axe.
The runic gem slots on the handle of the axe can also be seen in the design of the top surface. These slots will be used to unlock unique special attacks in the game. The side panels of the custom PS4 Pro are trimmed with a beautiful Norse design, with each rune representing one of the Nine Realms from Norse mythology. The Leviathan Gray Dualshock 4 wireless controller has the brand of the Hulda brothers engraved on it, including a subtle God of War logo on the touchpad.
Yee confirms that God of War will reach an output of dynamic 4K resolution through a 2160p checkerboard when played on a PS4 Pro with a 4K TV. Additionally, supersampling is available for 1080p HDTVs to obtain increased image clarity. God of War also features HDR lighting for both the PS4 and PS4 Pro.
The limited edition God of War PS4 Pro bundle will be available in the US and Canada for the price of $399.99 USD and $499.99 CAD, respectively.
