Capcom Believes It Can Balance Action And Horror In Resident Evil 6

Resident Evil 6 doesn't appear to be scary. I wonder what Capcom has to say about that.

During an interview with GamaSutra, Executive Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi explained that his team working on Resident Evil 6 believes they have struck a balance between horror and action.

So while there's still action, I don't think we're losing the horror, just because we keep action in the game.

I wholeheartely disagree. The moment you add as much adrenaline-rich gameplay, chaotic noise, and character effectiveness as Resident Evil 6 provides to a game, all hope for horror is lost. Sure, you might have a lurker or two pop out from a window, but how often can you do that before the player finds it obnoxious?

Then again, Resident Evil hasn't been frightening in years. That's especially disappointing because when I was a child playing the original two installments I could have sworn that better graphics would have made the game's far more ripe with friction. However, all we have to show for it is co-op and some multiplayer modes. What a missed opportunity.
