Curve Digital has announced that a game adaptation of Netflix‘s Narcos, which will be releasing for the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The game will be developed by Curve Digital’s sister company, Kuju Entertainment. Curve Digital managing director Jason Perkins said (via press release): “Narcos is a fantastic license for us to work with. This critically acclaimed show from Gaumont lends itself perfectly to a video game execution and we’re excited and proud to be bringing this to market.”
The UK games publisher has signed a deal with Gaumont, one of the oldest film companies in the world. Gaumont produces the Golden Globe and Emmy Award-nominated television series.
Kuju Entertainment studio head Brynley Gibson said: “We’re looking forward to creating a game that matches the fantastic storyline and gritty action of the Netflix series. We’re tremendously excited and have some amazing gameplay elements in the works that will please both fans of the show and gamers.”
However, no specific details about what the gameplay has been revealed, probably due to the fact that the game is presumably still in early development. Kuju Entertainment’s previously-released games include the likes of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, Risk Urban Assault and Guitar Hero Live.
Gaumont Head of Legal and Business Affairs Tim Stephen added: “Curve Digital is a world leading video game publisher and we trust them to develop and create our first Narcos console game title that will thrill our millions of Narcos fans, allowing them to engage with the storylines and characters they have come to know over the past three seasons.”
We have no indication whether the game will serve as a prequel or sequel to Narcos. It could also possibly be set in between any of the three seasons or even a brand new story starring characters from the first three seasons of Narcos.
Narcos is available on Netflix and it has since been renewed for a fourth season. The Narcos game is slated for a release window of spring 2019.
