It might be flagging behind in the battle royale stakes, but PUBG is showing no signs of slowing down on consoles. Its Xbox One cohort has now reached a whopping 5 million players – and the developers has seen fit to reward those who have made the success possible.
Posting on the Xbox website, PUBG Community Lead revealed the news that 5 million players had played PUBG since its console debut in December, and unveiled a few fantastic stats to boot.
4,959, 356 chicken dinners have been served up, nearly one for every player (or, in their words, one for every person living in New Zealand). Those getting their mitts on a chicken dinner take, on average, 34 minutes to do so, with a bandage being wrapped every 2 seconds since launch. The rest of the mind-boggling numbers are in the infographic below.
A pat on the back is all well and good, but what about some treats to celebrate the milestone? You be pleased that PUBG is congratulating all 5 million of its players by giving them the chance to wear an exclusive free cosmetic item: the PUBG5 jacket. What it lacks in subtlety, it more than makes up for in looking pretty nifty. You’ll have to be quick, though, as the PUBG5 jacket is only around for the next week, ending on March 22 at 12am PST.
It has to be said, 5 million is not a number to be sniffed at. Sure, Fortnite is running away with things in the popularity stakes, but PUBG looks to have, for now, cornered the Xbox market and is showing no signs of slowing down. Will PUBG keep up with those sorts of insane numbers? Only time will tell, but things are looking healthy.
