The Spyro Treasure Trilogy has been confirmed as a hoax, with the Reddit user who first “leaked” the collection, B4DASS, apologizing for trolling the series’ fanbase, stating that he simply lifted the title from a suggestion he’d seen posted on the message board. B4DASS also stated that his credentials as a leaker had been “blown out of proportion,” stating that the reports that he was responsible for leaking Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 used erroneous information and that he has no access to “inside sources.”
B4DASS has now come under fire from posters on the r/Spyro subreddit, with one commenter stating that he “doesn’t deserve” to enjoy a Spyro remastered trilogy if it is eventually released. The full comment from B4DASS, which has since been deleted but was posted to our sister site PlayStation Lifestyle, can be viewed below:
“An apology
Just wanted to come out and say it’s been fun but the trolling is over. Sorry for messing with everyone’s expectations and whatnot. I’m a huge fan of the series and I want it out remade for the PS4 just as much as everyone else. The treasure trilogy was just some random title I found someone suggested here and apparently people ate that up for some reason. As far as credibility goes towards me “leaking” BO4 is all just blown out of proportion. I saw charlieintel tweeting the morning of the announcement that it would be today and he seemed very very confident, so I posted it on the PS4 subreddit and it turned out to be true. Nothing to do with inside sources or anything. Kinda strange it’s gotten to the point where if I type my name on Twitter search bar there’s just a bunch of random people mentioning me and this announcement. So once again I’m sorry for messing around with everyone and do want to apologize sincerely. I do think the reveal is imminent, it’s basically obvious at this point to be honest. Ban me if necessary”
Though B4DASS may have been trolling Spyro fans, there has been a lot of evidence stacking up to suggest that a remastered trilogy is on its way. After the success of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, it seems likely that another core Sony mascot would receive the makeover treatment in its wake, and earlier this year Kotaku reported that a Spyro trilogy was on its way. Spyro fans may be disappointed by B4DASS’s admission, but it seems like the dragon will return in the near future, even if the Spyro Treasure Trilogy was an elaborate troll.
