Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 Future-Proofed for Next-Gen Consoles, Will Feature Character Creation and No Multiplayer

CD Projekt Red CEO Adam Kiciński recently revealed a few juicy details about Cyberpunk 2077. He confirmed several features that will be arriving in the upcoming highly-anticipated RPG. Speaking at the CD Projekt Red’s financial results conference, Kiciński said that the actual content of what will be showcased about Cyberpunk 2077 at E3 2018 will be announced before the main event begins. Little has been revealed about the game since it was announced back in 2013, so anything concrete or even a glimpse of gameplay footage would certainly be welcome.

Kiciński also said that Cyberpunk 2077 will be future-proof, as he said: “Technology-wise, Cyberpunk is very advanced. Our technology is ready to interface with future generations. The game is developed in such a way that it can use very powerful future equipment, but I cannot tell you more beyond that today, as no future generation of consoles has been announced.” When the successors to the PS4 and Xbox One consoles finally arrive sometime in the future, the game could possibly be ported to the next generation with more technical improvements.

Confirmed features coming to Cyberpunk 2077 include allowing players to create their own character instead of playing the game with a fixed protagonist like Geralt in The Witcher 3, as well as multiple character classes to choose from.

Additionally, Kiciński confirmed that the game will not feature multiplayer. He said: “First of all we’re going to deliver players a huge, story-driven role-playing game for a single player, as was the case with The Witcher 3.” However, he also said that he dislikes commenting on whether the expansions will contain multiplayer because the developer has already said in the past that the game will probably have some kind of online element.

Nintendo Switch owners will be disappointed to learn that a Switch version of Cyberpunk 2077 is highly unlikely. Kiciński said: “When talking about our larger games, we are focusing on the strongest devices out there, the high-spec PCs and consoles. We don’t plan Nintendo Switch releases for now.”

In other related news, CD Projekt Red recently confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will be receiving a Steam release and that there a sequel to The Witcher 3 is highly unlikely. However, they’re not refusing the prospect of a Witcher spin-off. Watch the CD Projekt Red financial results conference below for more information and details.
