Zone of the Enders The 2nd Runner Remaster for PS4 and PC Delayed

Zone of the Enders The 2nd Runner will be remastered for the PS4 and PC but the release date has been delayed. It was originally slated to release in spring 2018 but Konami has confirmed that it will now be releasing in September 2018 instead.

Konami revealed the news via Twitter, where they also confirmed that the remaster will be dubbed Zone of the Enders The 2nd Runner Mars. It will be fully playable in 4K resolution on both platforms. However, the biggest new feature is the addition of first-person VR gameplay for the first time ever in the Zone of the Enders franchise.

When the remaster was revealed Konami said: “All visual and aural elements have been remastered for native 4K resolution, and the action has been similarly improved with the game experience being ported to VR. As such, the new game retains the unique and beautiful visuals of the original title, but boasts textures in updated 4K while using surround sound techniques to offer layered and immersive audio effects.”

Zone of the Enders The 2nd Runner was originally released over 15 years ago in 2003, exclusively for the PS2. The game was notable for having been produced by Hideo Kojima of Metal Gear Solid fame. Konami later released a HD Collection, which contains both the first and second Zone of the Enders games on the PS3 and Xbox 360, in 2012. The game focuses on mecha combat, with players assuming the role of protagonist Dingo who pilots the ‘Orbital Frame’ Jehuty.

In the video below, Konami shows us the difference in resolution, model textures and more between the HD Collection version of the game and the upcoming Zone of the Enders The 2nd Runner Mars. The remaster will be developed by Konami and Cygames. At the time of writing, no details have been revealed regarding which VR headsets will be compatible. The game will support PS VR and Steam VR.
