Star Wars Battlefront 2 has achieved the impossible: made Ewoks cool. While it may not be the update many were clamoring for, Ewok Hunt – a brand-new mode coming to the game on April 19 – is sure to see many players stick it to the man. Literally.
Coming as part of the Star Wars Battlefront 2 update Night on Endor, Ewok Hunt will see two teams duke it out on the moons of Endor on a Infection Mode that you could only get away with in a galaxy far, far away.
Gamers playing as both Ewoks and the Imperial Stormtroopers will essentially re-enact that big, silly battle from Return of the Jedi – with a twist. Once a Stormtrooper falls in the line of battle, that player will respawn as an Ewok until everyone is an Ewok. It’s like my own personal brand of hell.
As most Infection modes tend to go, the Stormtroopers are far more powerful than their Ewok enemies so will take a lot of stopping.
The Ewok Hunt is only running for a limited time, so get your sticks, stones, and slingshots at the ready. The Night on Endor update, which launches April 18, also comes with skins, a much-request feature from the community. Unfortunately, Crystals, the immensely unpopular premium currency that players rebelled against upon release, is making a return as well. That means that microtransactions are back. The full list is available on the Battlefront forums, but the early frontrunners surely vying for attention on the battlefield will be Ahch-To Rey, Hooded Yoda and Endor Leia.
Elsewhere, EA has confirmed that season 2 will be coming to Star Wars Battlefront 2 in May. The reference to a game season marking a specific anniversary of movie tie-in will do little to quell the rumors that we’re getting a Solo: A Star Wars Story tie-in next month.
