Dragon Ball FighterZ developer Arc System Works has teased that it is working on a new game based on an anime series, with the studio suggesting that it is looking to release another adaptation and promptly getting animation fans excited in the process. With Dragon Ball FighterZ having been a critical and commercial success, this hint from Arc System Works has got fans thinking about the developer’s next project.
While the tease was limited to a single tweet and should in no way be taken as confirmation that Arc System is working on a new anime-based project, the tweet was enough to get the dev’s followers speculating over where it could be headed in the future. With the Event Hubs article shared in the tease suggesting that Arc System should work on a One Piece or JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure game, could the studio have another anime megahit in its sights?

Earlier this month the developer revealed that it was working on Wizard’s Symphony, the latest release in the RPG series of the same name. With the studio also continuing to push out Dragon Ball FighterZ DLC and working on BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle for the PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC, it’s unclear when it would be able to find the time to work on a new adaptation of an anime series, though judging from the comments to the above tweet, there’s certainly an audience for it.
Will Arc System be able to do with another anime series what it did for Dragon Ball, and provide fans with a loving recreation of a beloved animated series? Only time will tell, though we can think of a slew of series that deserve the Arc System treatment, so we hope that this tease proves itself to be more substantial than a simple tweet.
