Black Ops Declassified Focused On Multiplayer, Not Story

The recent iterations of Call of Duty has always had a large focus on the multiplayer aspect of the games, but their campaigns were rarely a slouch in terms of game design and cinematics. However, no one should have similar expectations for the upcoming Vita Call of Duty game, Black Ops Declassified. Nihilistic, the developer at the helm of Declassified, has pretty much tossed the campaign out of the window.

In a recent interview run in the One of Swords blog, Nihilistic Software's CEO, Robert Huebner, said that Declassified is focusing on multiplayer above all else.

"Declassified is not about the big campaign storyline and huge cinematics, it’s more focused on the multiplayer essence of Call of Duty and bringing that to a portable device as completely as possible," Huebner said.

There is a story, one that explores the history of certain Black Ops characters, so Nihilistic hasn't completely done away with the single-player campaign, but no one should expect anything grand.

In other words, if you only wanted Declassified for a first-person shooter multiplayer experience, you've come to the right place. If you were hoping for a do-over after Resistance: Burning Skies for a FPS campaign experience, keep moving.
