PlayStation has announced Ghost Giant, a PS4 PSVR game from Fe developer Zoink Games. It’s the fourth of five game announcements as part of PlayStation’s Countdown to E3 2018. It looks like a genuine Disney Pixar movie in the form of a VR game. It reminds me of the animated movie classic Iron Giant, not simply due to the obviously similar titles, it’s the nature of the relationship between the player and the main character.
Ghost Giant PSVR E3 2018: The Story
In Ghost Giant, players assume the role of the titular Ghost Giant who later meets Louis. Louis lives with his mother in seclusion, taking care of the family sunflower farm with his mother. His life is sadly a lonely one until the Ghost Giant enters his life. As the Ghost Giant, players will be able to lift vehicles and trees, as well as rotate and turn buildings inside out to take a peek in the interior.
Ghost Giant presents players with an entire town named Sancourt as their own personal sandbox. They will need to help Louis in completing his daily tasks and that usually means doing some heavy lifting. However, there’s more to the game as players will build and develop a relationship with Louis, as well as guiding and supporting him emotionally.
Zoink Games has enlisted the writing capabilities of Sara Bergmark Elfgren in crafting the story of Ghost Giant. The game certainly looks and feels like a charmingly cute animated movie. Ever wanted to feel like the Iron Giant in, well, the Iron Giant? Then this game is probably for you. At the time of writing, no release date has been revealed for Ghost Giant.
It’s been an exciting few days thus far and the PlayStation E3 2018 Showcase is only two days away now. We currently have Lumines designer Tetsuya Mizuguchi’s Tetris Effect and the release date for the highly-anticipated Days Gone, as well as yesterday’s Twin Mirror announcement and today’s Ghost Giant reveal. It seems like PlayStation is already winning E3 2018 even though it hasn’t officially started yet. Nintendo and Xbox will have to step up their game if they wish to stand out at this year’s E3.
