E3 2018: New Call of Cthulhu Trailer Takes Us to the Mountains of Madness

Focus Home Interactive has treated us to a brand-new, creepy trailer for its upcoming Call of Cthulhu game. The first-person horror title looks unnerving, smart and like it will stick in your mind long after beating the game. Get ready to step into madness, dear mortals, Cthulhu is calling.

Inspired by Chaosium’s pen-and-paper RPG, the official Cthulhu game wants to transport you deep inside a myriad of cosmic horrors and madness set within Lovecraft’s demonic universe. Launching on PS4, Xbox One and PC, the game looks set to frighten a whole new generation. Its first-person viewpoint places you directly into Lovecraft’s insane nightmare. Do you dare step inside Lovecraft’s bleak foray into the unknown? You’d be mad not to.

Call of Cthulhu, Let the Madness Begin

Nothing is as it seems in Call of Cthulhu. Whispers in the dark beckon you to lands of disgusting sciences, shadowy cults, and horrifying creatures. This is a game that will play with your mind. Always on the edge of sanity and madness, you won’t be able to trust anyone.

You play as Private Investigator Edward Pierce. You’re sent to investigate the tragic death of the Hawkins family within their grand, spookily isolated mansion on Darkwater Island. You’ll meet with unfriendly locals and untrustworthy police in your attempt to solve the mysterious murder case. Confronted with conspiracies, the occult and unimaginable horrors, will Edward Pierce piece together the case? Or will he lose his mind?

It’s entirely up to you how you tackle the case. Is talking to locals the correct approach? What about exploring the town and mansion? Confronted with terrible monsters, what’s the best approach? There is no combat in Call of Cthulhu. Honestly, all of this sounds great. A nightmarish first-person detective story with open gameplay and an open end? Count us in.

No release date has been announced as of yet for Call of Cthulhu, but it hopefully won’t be long before we’re plunged into Edward Pierce’s foray into the unknown.
