After months of rumors and leaks, Battlefield 2042 is finally on the way. DICE’s latest entry in the expansive shooter franchise is set several decades in the future, bringing new sci-fi elements to the beloved games. We’ve also got more information on what the pre-order exclusive Battlefield 2042 Ultimate Edition contains, and how much they’ll set you back.

Should you buy Battlefield 2042 Ultimate Edition?

Battlefield 2042 Ultimate Edition

In the Battlefield 2042 Ultimate Edition, you’ll get early access to the game and its beta, exclusive skins, as well as the Midnight Ultimate Bundle. This is only available in the Ultimate Edition, whereas the early access and new cosmetics are also available in the Gold Edition. And, of course, you’ll get a copy of Battlefield 2042 as well.

This Midnight Ultimate Bundle, then, is the key selling point to the Ultimate Edition of Battlefield 2042. As confirmed on the Steam Store, this comes with a range of exclusive skins. They’re three Legendary skins, with the “Shadow Stalker” costume, the “Obsidian” weapon skin, and the “Onyx” vehicle skin. No images of them yet, but if they’re exclusive solely to this edition, they must be pretty special.

The other non-gameplay components of the Ultimate Edition are a digital artbook, and a digital copy of the game’s soundtrack. The key selling point, though, is those skins, and it’ll be exciting to see what they look like – and to test them out in this near-future battleground.

The Ultimate Edition announcement came following Battlefield 2042’s official reveal last week. Following that, we also saw the first glimpse of gameplay at Xbox’s E3 conference over the weekend. Enticingly, the game will run 128-player lobbies on next-gen consoles and PC, creating a multiplayer FPS more jam-packed than ever.

In other news, a Guardians of the Galaxy game was announced last night, developed by Eidos Montreal. Arkane also announced an Xbox and PC exclusive co-op shooter, called Redfall. Due for release next year, it takes place in a town infested with vampires.
