You can now preorder the Resident Evil 2 remake on Steam. There are a few pre-order bonuses for the $60 version, as well as a deluxe edition that comes with extra costumes for Leon and Claire, and an option to switch out the game’s soundtrack for the original.
Now that the preorder is up on Steam, we know a little bit more about what to expect from the Resident Evil 2 remake. The first point of note is the bonus content you’ll get when you preorder. If you opt to get the standard edition, you’ll receive the Samurai Edge deluxe weapon in both Chris and Jill models. You’ll also get a Resident Evil 2 wallpaper pack (an inclusion that feels more redundant with every moment that passes, but there you go).
If you preorder the deluxe edition, however, you’ll get a few more bits and pieces. Leon will get two costumes, Arklay Sheriff and Noir, and Claire will get three costumes, Military, Noir, and Elza Walker. You’ll also get the Albert model of the Samurai Edge deluxe weapon, and an option to swap the game’s soundtrack to the one in the original Resident Evil 2. It’s all pretty innocuous stuff and serves as a reminder that alternative costumes and soundtrack swaps aren’t just part and parcel in games these days.
We also know the recommended system requirements for the PC version of the Resident Evil 2 remake thanks to this listing. You’ll need at least Windows 7 64-bit, and Capcom recommends an Intel Core i7-3770 or equivalent CPU, 8GB of RAM, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 or equivalent graphics card, and DirectX 11. If you’re only concerned by the minimum requirements, that drops down to an i5-4460 CPU and a GTX 760 graphics card.
You can preorder the Resident Evil 2 remake by going to the Steam page now, where you can also marvel at the absolutely gorgeous screenshots of the game.
