Spyro made his name on the original PlayStation. The purple dragon flew to other consoles after developer Insomniac Games moved on and set the multiplatform standard for the series going forward. The Spyro Reignited Trilogy initially bucked that trend only slightly since was originally only announced for the PS4 and Xbox One. However, according to the official website, Spyro Reignited Trilogy Switch and PC versions might also be on the way.
This leak or legitimate mistake is in a drop-down menu on SpyroTheDragon.com. Switch and PC options are listed under “Select a Platform.” The Nintendo Switch version is even listed twice. Activision and Toys For Bob have not announced that the game is coming to any other platforms outside of the PS4 and Xbox One.
While unconfirmed, it is very plausible that the game would hop to more platforms. The Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy started out a PS4 exclusive when it was released in June 2017 but then later came to the Switch, PC, and Xbox One almost exactly a year later. Activision also published that remastered collection and is also publishing the Spyro Reignited Trilogy. If these games are indeed spreading to other platforms, then it might be likely that the rumored PC and Switch ports would not come out alongside the PS4 and Xbox One versions on September 21, given that it would be a later announcement date.
Spyro also has a panel at San Diego Comic-Con later today. The panel is called “Spyro: Reigniting a Legend” and starts at 2:15 pm PT and features a whole host of guests involved in Spyro’s creation in one way or another. Team members from Insomniac Games, Universal Interactive Studios, and Toys For Bob will be there there as well as the original composer Stewart Copeland and Tom Kenny, the voice of Spyro and SpongeBob Squarepants. While it could be a coincidence, it sets the stage for a confirmation of the rumored Spyro Reignited Trilogy Switch and PC versions.
