rising lords medieval turn based strategy game coming 2019

Rising Lords is a Medieval Turn-based Strategy Game Coming in 2019

German indie studio Argonwood has released the Rising Lords announcement trailer today. Rising Lords is a medieval turn-based strategy game with board game elements, and it’ll be coming to PC in 2019, with the Steam page going live tomorrow.

Argonwood is a development studio based in Germany, and their first major game, Rising Lords, was announced today with a trailer released. It’s a turn-based strategy game with card and board game elements set in a medieval world, where you send your serfs to battle and die or let them prosper. You have to do all of those typical medieval lord-y things, like collecting taxes, dictating rations and field work, and build fortified cities with armies to protect them.

Rising Lords is going to have a sizable single-player campaign with plenty of customization for your Lord, and subtle variables can dramatically change up the feel of the game. As well as this, you’ll be able to play multiplayer with up to three other people, that encourages “Getting into the minds of [your] enemies, and making [your] friends pay for questioning their right to rule.” Argonwood has said that you won’t have to wait for other players to take turns, leading us to suspect that it’ll be a real-time strategy.

Argonwood comprises primarily of two brothers, Chris and Manu Fernholz, a programmer and artist who “have been designing games their whole lives.” The pair started off playing pen-and-paper RPGs and board games together, and have been developing smaller PC games since around 2013. Rising Lords is their first major project, and with it feeling comparable to the likes of Crusader Kings II and other grand strategy games, it’s definitely ambitious.

You can add Rising Lords to your Steam wishlist when the page launches tomorrow, and you can expect to play the full release of the game some time in 2019.
