Monster Hunter World Sales Exceed 8 Million Units Worldwide

Capcom has announced yet another milestone for Monster Hunter World sales. The popular game has reached cumulative sales of a whopping 8.3 million units worldwide since it was originally released earlier this year in January 2018. Thanks to that achievement, the company is once again on track to achieve an incredible six consecutive years of operating income growth, as well as experiencing its most profitable year ever in its long history of developing and publishing games.

Besides Monster Hunter World, Capcom’s Digital Contents business has also been a huge contributor. This includes the great sales performances of games like Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, Mega Man Legacy Collection 1, Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 and Mega Man Legacy Collection 1+2. The Japanese company attributed the continuing success of Monster Hunter World to “the expansion of its user base,” which “solidified its position as an international brand and strengthened our base of IP.”

That probably refers to the huge boom of newcomers to the Monster Hunter franchise since Monster Hunter World launched. The upcoming PC release of the game next month will certainly increase the sales of the game even further to unprecedented heights. Despite all these seemingly great news, the “risk” of falling sales have caused the company’s stock value to fall by a considerable 11.87 percent. Surely the PC release will help solve this particular problem.

Speaking of the PC version, the game’s producer Ryozo Tsujimoto confirmed that its visuals will remain similar to the console version at launch. He said: “When the game launches the visuals will have parity with the console versions, but we’re considering releasing a free update after launch.” There’s no doubt that the PC version of the game will surely have some advantages over its console counterpart. The console version can’t reach native 4K at 60 FPS, but more powerful PC hardware could probably pull that off.
