As was announced in July, the Dragon Ball FighterZ Switch edition’s free open beta will be available starting August 10. The beta will run from Friday 12 am ET August 10 to Sunday 2:59 am ET August 12. For those curious to try the new Dragon Ball fighting game, you can pre-load the client right now on Nintendo eShop for Switch.
Bandai Namco has announced that this open beta on Twitter will have four modes available: Practice Battle Tutorial mode, which will teach new players the basics of the game, Arena Match, Ring Match, and Ring Party Match. These will hopefully give people a good taste of what the game is like. Unlike most open betas, along with the game’s initial one for other consoles, this version will include all 23 currently available fighters. Some of the combatants include Super Saiyan Vegeta, Piccolo, Kid Buu, Frieza, and more. The game is also still getting new DLC fighters like Base Goku and Vegeta.
The Dragon Ball FighterZ Switch version will be released worldwide September 28. Our own Paul Tamburro said in his review of the game that it is “one of the most exhilarating fighting games you’re likely to see. A dizzying blend of destructive special attacks and unbreakable combos, Arc System Works has done a fine job of visually replicating the explosive action of the anime series.” Hopefully, by putting the game on the Switch, it will get a larger audience as well as making it a must-buy title for fans since putting it on the hybrid console seems like a good idea.
But what do you think? Are you excited to live out all those arguments you had with your friends over who was the most powerful Dragon Ball character while on the go? Or do you think this port will be like Yamcha and be a bit useless? Sound off in the comments below!
