The Witcher 3 Geralt “Would Be an Amazing Role,” Says Mission Impossible Fallout Star Henry Cavill

Most fans would like nothing more than to forget movies like Man of Steel and Batman V Superman Dawn of Justice, thanks to Henry Cavill‘s portrayal of an out-of-character Superman. However, he’s actually as much of a massive nerd as the rest of us geek culture lovers. He plays games too, and in a recent press junket for his latest movie, Mission Impossible Fallout, he revealed which game he has recently been playing. That game is The Witcher 3, he has surprisingly expressed interest in playing the role of main protagonist, Geralt.

In an interview with IGN, Henry Cavill spoke about his most recent gaming exploits: “The Witcher 3. I just replayed all the way through. Love that game. Really good game.” That’s Henry Cavill, folks, the guy who plays the Superman we love to hate since 2013. We don’t really hear many A-list celebrities like Cavill admitting to playing and replaying The Witcher 3.

If that’s not enough to prove Cavill’s geek cred, he also announced his admiration for the source material by Andrzej Sapkowski. He said: “The books are amazing. The books are really, really good… The books I started reading, and they are well worth a read.” Gamers who have read the original series of fantasy novels, on which The Witcher games are adapted from, are rare, and it looks like Cavill’s one of them.

When asked about whether he would be interested in portraying The Witcher 3‘s Geralt of Rivia, Cavill answered: “Absolutely. Yeah, that would be an amazing role.” We think Cavill should definitely be given the opportunity, especially since he’s already well-acquainted with the games and the books, which apparently not many can boast of. If Cavill’s passion for The Witcher is anything like that of Nathan Fillion’s for the Uncharted franchise, it could turn out to be great. The recently-released fanmade Uncharted movie starring Fillion was amazing, and quite possibly one of the best live action video game adaptations ever.
