The Wii U launched on Sunday and brought smiles to the faces of many Nintendo fans. Unfortunately however, the console's big release hasn't been smooth for everyone, especially those who ran into issues when downloading the day one update.
Apparently, if the update is interrupted (please don't turn of the console!) the system will no longer work. LA Times reporter Ben Fritz lamented the issue on Twitter, saying, "Wii U has stopped functioning before I managed to play a single game. I tried to stop an interminable software update and now… nothing."
A friend of mine actually texted me earlier today reporting the same issue. He's got no choice but to send the console out to Nintendo and wait 14 days to get it back. Not cool.
So, be warned. Whatever you do, don't stop the Wii U during its update. It's an awfully long download that requires your patience.
