Total War Three Kingdoms Trailer Campaign Map

Total War Three Kingdoms Trailer Offers First Look at New Campaign Map

Sega and Creative Assembly have released a new trailer for Total War Three Kingdoms. Although it doesn’t show any actual gameplay, the new trailer gives us our first glimpse at the new campaign map that will be featured in the upcoming game. For the first time since 2013’s Total War Rome 2, the series will be travelling to pastures new as we will be venturing to a region outside of Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

The new Total War Three Kingdoms trailer consists of in-engine footage instead of in-game footage. That means the campaign map we see in the trailer won’t be exactly what players will be confronted with in the final game. Nonetheless, the campaign map featured definitely looks more lush and colorful compared to past campaign maps from previous titles. It showcases cinematic scenes of the general Sun Jian, who will be one of the game’s playable faction leaders. He hails from the Kingdom of Wu, one of three dynasties vying for power during the Romance of the Three Kingdoms era in ancient China.

The game’s developer recently explained the difference between Total War Three Kingdoms‘ two very different modes. Classic Mode will offer a much more grounded recreation of the period for players who prefer a historically authentic Total War experience. This is the opposite of Romance Mode, which will adhere to the romanticised perception of the generals from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms source material by embellishing a few details of the larger-than-life characters that roamed the battlefields during the period.

In other related news, Sega announced that Total War Three Kingdoms will be playable for the first time by the general public at Gamescom 2018. The event will take place from August 21 to August 25, 2018, in Germany. In the meantime, check out the new Total War Three Kingdoms trailer below.
