Dark Souls Remastered Nintendo Switch Release Date Announced

From Software has announced the Dark Souls Remastered Nintendo Switch release date. The game was initially released for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC earlier in May 2018. Dark Souls Remastered Nintendo Switch will be released on October 19, 2018. The delay for the game on the hybrid console was originally announced in April, when the developer said that it would be arriving sometime in summer 2018.

Alongside the announcement for the delay, From Software also confirmed that the release of the Solaire of Astora Amiibo figure will be delayed to summer 2018. However, the developer has made no mention of the Amiibo figure but it could still possibly arrive around the same time as Dark Souls Remastered on the Nintendo Switch.

One of the main difference between the Nintendo Switch version of Dark Souls Remastered and the other versions is the visuals and framerate. The PS4, Xbox One and PC versions of Dark Souls Remastered runs in 4K resolution and 60fps. However, the Nintendo Switch version will only run at 1080p and 30fps in docked mode and 720p and 30FPS in handheld mode.

Take a look below for confirmed changes between the original version of Dark Souls and Dark Souls Remastered:

  • Healing items won’t be available in PvP with the exception of Estus, and phantoms will have their Estus Flask count halved.
  • The Arena will support 3v3 team and six-player deathmatch now, as well as password matching and random respawn points.
  • The online network is now a dedicated server rather than P2P. Thank goodness!
  • Players can now prevent matched red phantom players from seeing your “White Sign Soapstone” sign via an option.
  • Players can now turn on/off regional matchmaking
  • Players can no longer summon ally phantoms consecutively when in combat with enemy phantoms
  • In online play, players who are outside of the Host’s parameter range will not be matched with each other (the players can still be matched via Password Matching)
  • You can now use more than one item at once and can select how many you use.
  • You can change Covenants you’ve discovered at bonfire.
