No Dark Souls Trilogy Europe Release, Bandai Namco Confirms

The recently-announced Dark Souls Trilogy will not be receiving a European release any time soon. The original release date of 19 October, 2018 was presumed to be a worldwide release, but that has now been confirmed to not be the case. However, Nintendo fans can still praise the sun as Dark Souls: Remastered for the Nintendo Switch is still scheduled to hit its October release date.

In a statement given by Bandai Namco Europe, Dark Souls Trilogy was confirmed to not be coming to the European market:

“To clarify, the Dark Souls Trilogy release date announcement yesterday (August 21st) was a US and Asia announcement only, and was not a Gamescom announcement in Europe. Dark Souls fans in Europe can still get their fix on October 19th–with the release of Dark Souls: Remastered for the Nintendo Switch console.”

This is rather odd considering the fact that the reveal of the collection was made at Gamescom, a European convention. The statement, though, does not completely rule out a European release, just that it is not confirmed not to be happening at the same time as everywhere else. Fans who do want to play Dark Souls Trilogy in Europe could also import the collection as both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are region-free. They can, as the statement noted, also purchase Dark Souls: Remastered for the Nintendo Switch if they desire.

The Dark Souls Trilogy was announced on 21 August to be collecting the whole Dark Souls series so far in one bundle, to be released 21 October, 2018. It will collect Dark Souls: Remastered, Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin and Dark Souls III: The Fire Fades Edition, along with all DLC for the three games. The physical versions of it will come in a steelbook case. It differs from the Japanese bundle released earlier this year as it will not include the various extras and collectibles. The Western version of the collection will retail for $80 USD when it releases later this year.
