Xseed Games has announced that it is bringing enhanced PS4 ports of The Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel and its sequel Trails of Cold Steel 2 to the West. The Legend of Heroes PS4 release date for both games has been scheduled as early 2019. You’ll be able to buy both games digitally or as a special edition physical edition.
The Western PS4 ports of both games also come with dual audio. You’ll be able to choose whether to play the game in Japanese or English. This represents the first time in the series’ history that western folk will be able to play the game with its original Japanese voices. The English translation will be based on the upgraded PC port of the games. Xseed has also confirmed that when Legend of Heroes PS4 comes out, PC owners will be given a free update containing the Japanese voices.
Despite porting both games, Xseed will release Trails of Cold Steel and its sequel separately. While you’ll be able to buy them as a digital download, each game will have its own special edition physical release, priced at $49.99. The first game comes with a real-life 50 Mira coin collector’s coin, a physical soundtrack containing 21 tracks, and a steelbook case. Trails of Cold Steel 2 Relentless Edition, meanwhile, features a collector’s Ouroboros Emblem Pin, a 23 track soundtrack, and its own snazzy steelbook.
The Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel originally released on the PS3 and PS Vita in the States on December 22, 2015, and was ported to the PC in 2017. Trails of Cold Steel 2 meanwhile, released in the West on PS3 and Vita Vita back in 2016, and was later ported to PC in February this year.
Both games were received very well upon original release, with the first installment garnering an average review score of 86 on Metacritic. Trails of Cold Steel 2 was rated even higher, being awarded an average score of 90.
