Sony Pictures Entertainment has officially released a new Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse trailer, which showcases several of the Spider-People featured in the upcoming animated movie. However, thanks to a Reddit user by the name of @falconbox, it seems that the Spider-Man PS4 suit which Peter wears during the game has been spotted in the background of the new trailer.
According to the new Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse trailer, the appearance of all these different Spider-People can be attributed to a particle collider machine, which apparently loosens the barrier between alternate universes. In one specific scene exactly one minute 39 seconds into the trailer, we witness the reaction of the Peter Parker, Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen to the arrival of Spider-Ham.
The most interesting detail hidden in the background of this scene is a split second glimpse of the white Spider-Man costume from Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man PS4. The suit is seemly put on display for some reason. This might just be a simple easter egg but we can’t dismiss the possibility of the PS4 exclusive’s version of Peter Parker appearing in Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse. This makes even more sense considering that Spider-Man PS4 recently entered the Marvel comic book canon in the ongoing Spider-Geddon comic book crossover event.
The world of Spider-Man PS4 has even received an official designation: Earth-1048. Other Spider-People appearing in the new Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse trailer includes a young girl in a robotic Spider-Man suit and Spider-Man Noir, the latter of which is actually an unlockable costume in the Spider-Man PS4 game.
With all the myriad versions of Spider-Men or Spider-People in the Marvel Multiverse, there’s always a chance that Insomniac Games’ take on the wall-crawler will appear in the highly-anticipated animated movie. Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse comes out in cinemas December 14, 2018. Check out the new Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse trailer below.
