Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming out later this month to fill the void of western-themed games. However, it looks like there could be some rootin’-tootin’ competition in the near future. Polish developer/publisher Techland has updated its Facebook page for the Call of Juarez franchise for the first time in years. This move may be pointing towards a possible new Call of Juarez game in the works.
Techland has recently updated the Call of Juarez Facebook page with a banner featuring Silas Greaves, the protagonist of 2013’s Call of Juarez Gunslinger, along with the tagline “Legends Never Die.” Another newly-posted image features Greaves overlooking a canyon with a quote attached, stating “I haven’t been here in many years. Name’s Silas Greaves.”
Additionally, Techland posted another new update earlier today, and this time it’s on the company’s official Twitter page. The video lasts about half a minute, showing footage from Call of Juarez Gunslinger with Greaves imparting a message to Red Dead Redemption 2 protagonist Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde Gang.

What could all that mean? The updates to the Call of Juarez Facebook page may indicate that Techland is currently working on a sequel or a remaster of a Call of Juarez game. Fans of the franchise may find a new Call of Juarez game long overdue after half a decade with no new releases. As for the Red Dead Redemption 2 video, it might be safe to assume that it’s just a professional courtesy from Techland to the folks at Rockstar Games, considering both Red Dead Redemption and Call of Juarez share similar western and cowboy themes.
At the time of writing, the developer has not announced anything official regarding the development of a new Call of Juarez game, or lack thereof. In the meantime, fans of westerns and cowboys will have to make do with the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2, which releases later this month for the PS4 and Xbox One on October 26, 2018.
