Red Dead Online standalone price announced

Red Dead Online standalone announced and it’ll cost $5

Red Dead Online standalone has been revealed in a surprising announcement by Rockstar Games. This will allow players to enjoy Red Dead Redemption 2 multiplayer without having to pay for the story at an astonishingly low introductory price of just $4.99.

Red Dead Online is the always-online multiplayer mode for Red Dead Redemption 2, similar to how GTA 5 has separated Grand Theft Auto Online into its own thing. Rockstar Games has previously revealead that it’s splitting GTA Online off into its own thing (while also debuting its biggest-ever update); now, Red Dead Online will be getting the same treatment.

How the Red Dead Online standalone is a great deal for new players

Red Dead Online standalone characters

Naturally, the Red Dead Online standalone is exactly what it says on the tin — it’s just the online multiplayer component of the game. The story mode won’t be available to players who buy this version on its own at its introductory price of $4.99 according to Rockstar Games, but they will have the option to upgrade for an additional cost at any time. Purchasing the standalone multiplayer version will also include access to all future updates such as the recent Halloween event.

Red Dead Online will be launching on Steam, the Epic Games Store, the Microsoft Store, the PlayStation Store, and the Rockstar Games Launcher at the same time. Players will need to set aside 123 GB of storage space in order to play the online game mode; it’s not yet known if the story mode will require additional disk space. Console players will need either Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus in order to enjoy the online features of this game.

The price of the Red Dead Online standalone will increase to $19.99 starting on February 15, 2020; this means that the Story Mode upgrade will probably cost around $39.99. Players will be able to get this game on all platforms starting on December 1, 2020, for the introductory price of $4.99 or the regional equivalent.
