Amnesia Nintendo Switch May Be Happening

Frictional Games have said that an Amnesia Nintendo Switch port may be happening in future. During an interview, the creative director at the company said that it would like to see the horror game series on Nintendo’s portable-hybrid console. The first game in the series celebrates its eighth anniversary this year.

Creative director Thomas Grip revealed this wish to Gamespot in an interview recently. He added that the company at this point in time simply hopes to put the games on the console and that it “should work” on Nintendo’s handheld console. Grip continues to add that he has always been a fan of the Japanese company. He also said that he feels if the Amnesia games are ported onto the Switch that the company is  “doing video games for real now”. He continues:

“And it would just be cool to get it on a handheld as well, because I think that should work for Amnesia and other games as well. We’re looking into it and seeing what can be done. We’re hoping–if everything goes as we hope–we hope we’ll have it [on Switch].”

The first game in the Amnesia franchise, The Dark Descent, was released in 2010. It was available on PC, Mac, Linux, and in 2016, the PS4. The game tasks the player with taking control of the protagonist Daniel as he explores a frightening and dark castle. Throughout the game, the player is attacked by various grotesque creatures. The game was received well with its current Metacritic score being 85 out of 100.

Its sequel, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, was released on PC, Mac, and Linux in 2013. The sequel later received a PlayStation 4 port in 2016 and launched on the Xbox One in 2018. It is set in the same universe as the original game but has a whole new cast of characters. The game was received less favorably than the original with its Metacritic score currently being 72 out of 100.
