Samsung Galaxy A9 Release Date, Details Revealed

The Korean mobile manufacturer has officially revealed the Samsung Galaxy A9 release date, as well as more details on the phone. Rumors of the device having four cameras were confirmed with the unveiling. No solid date has been set for its launch, however, though the company has confirmed it will be available in November. 

The Samsung Galaxy A9 will be part of the company’s strategy to focus on mid-range devices with unique features. This comes in the form of the four lenses that was revealed by leaks recently. The four cameras will be:

  • An eight-megapixel, 120-degree wide angle lens
  • A 10-megapixel telephoto lens with a 2x optical zoom
  • The main lens which will be 24-megapixels
  • and a 5-megapixel “depth camera” which will allow for depth-of-field effects

The front-facing camera will also be of 24-megapixel quality.

The CPU in the device will be a Snapdragon 660 processor. It will have 6 GB of RAM and a 3,800mAh battery. Internal storage will clock in at 128 GB, with a micro-SD card slot that supports up to 512 GB in external storage. Bucking the trend of recent smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy A9 will have a 3.5-millimeter headphone jack. It will also feature a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. Its screen will be a 6.3-inch Full HD+ panel which will feature a resolution of 2220 x 1080 pixels.

The device will feature a premium design through its metal frame and glass rear. It will be available in three colors: lemonade blue, bubblegum pink, and caviar black. The former of the three color schemes will have two-tone hues. TechRadar reports that the device will weigh 183 grams. As for physical inputs, the Samsung Galaxy A9 will feature the usual volume and lock keys, as well as a button dedicated to the company’s Bixby digital assistant. The device will launch SIM-free but does not feature wireless charging. It will retail for around $720 at launch.
