Red Dead Redemption 2 sales have been very impressive. Already, it has broken records for the most successful opening weekend in videogame history, and now, the cowboy sequel has another record to its name, this time in the UK. Red Dead Redemption 2 has had the strongest second week sales in the UK, beating out FIFA 19‘s previous effort.
Typically dominated by whatever the new FIFA game is, the UK charts has seen something of a shakeup thanks to Red Dead Redemption 2. According to GFK Chart-Track, Rockstar’s cowboy sequel has not only retained “the No1 spot,” but it has also become “the biggest selling second week for a title in 2018.” Rockstar games tend to do very well in the UK, with Grand Theft Auto 5 consistently appearing high in the charts still to this day. The UK, however, is a country enamored by the sight of 22 men kicking a football around. To beat the second week sales of FIFA 19 is an achievement.
While Red Dead Redemption 2 is stealing the headlines, the UK has been picking up other (non-cowboy) games, too. The Switch and Xbox One release of LEGO Harry Potter Collection has brought that game back into the top ten. Football Manager 2019, too, has seen some success and debuts at number 9 in the UK charts. Diablo 3 Eternal Collection on the Switch has entered in at number 15. Call of Cthulu, a another new release this week debuted at number 27 in the UK top 40.
Below, you’ll find the full top ten, with the game’s previous entry in brackets.
- Red Dead Redemption 2 (1)
- Call of Duty Black Ops 4 (2)
- FIFA 19 (3)
- Forza Horizon 4 (4)
- Spider-Man (6)
- Assassin’s Creed Odyssey (5)
- Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy (10)
- LEGO Harry Potter Collection (New)
- Football Manager 2019 (New)
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (12)
Red Dead Redemption 2 looks likely to maintain its top spot in the UK sales chart next week, too. The likes of Pokemon Let’s Go and Fallout 76 could potentially give it a run for its money, however.
