We don’t know too much about Beyond Good and Evil 2 other than the fact that it will be a big departure from the original game. Ubisoft has released a new video focusing on Beyond Good and Evil 2 gameplay that will shed some light on the upcoming title.
The new trailer, which you can see below, highlights a seamless exploration system set both in space and on the ground across multiple planets. You’ll control a customizable character that can wield swords, guns, and even a jetpack for easy travel. All of these can be augmented to enhance weapons and add new abilities. Enemies will be able to use augments as well.
A spyglass was also featured. This will be able to show not only what kind of augments enemies have, but also reveal the entire map of the game, even in space. It will also tell you what kind of skills people have so you’ll be able to recruit them into your space pirate team.
Co-Op was briefly shown. The new gameplay trailer doesn’t mention how many people can join a game, but we do know you won’t be tethered together, so you’ll be free to explore whether or not you’re online.
Ganesha City, one of the cities shown in previous games, was featured heavily in the trailer. Fully customizable air vehicles were also demonstrated, showing footage of dog-fighting in the air. These will be able to be augmented.
Beyond Good and Evil 2 has been in development hell for years. The series was set to include a number of sequels, but that was shelved due to poor sales of the original title. A new entry in the series was teased back in 2008, but scant information had come out in the years that followed. Ubisoft officially announced Beyond Good and Evil 2, which will serve as a prequel to the original, in 2017.
Beyond Good and Evil 2 doesn’t have a release date, nor is it known what systems it will be released on.
