A Metroid Prime 4 release date has supposedly leaked online. The new Metroid Prime is still shrouded in mystery, with one lonely teaser trailer reminding the world it exists. Now, an online game retailer has a release date listed for the title.
Czech online retailer SuperGamer (via Badfive)has listed the Metroid Prime 4 release date as November 29, 2019. The date falls on Black Friday in the United States, which would be a bold move on Nintendo’s part. It’s also not the most outlandish date and falls in line with Nintendo launching big fall games on a Friday.
SuperGamer’s site says the game’s “planned release date” is for November 29 (according to Google Translate). The date is listed again in another location on the page this time stating it will be in stock on that day.
It is possible the listed date is a placeholder, but more often than not placeholder dates are the last day in a month (or in a year). Noted video game leaker Amazon Canada has the title listed for December 31, 2019, as does Amazon US and Best Buy Canada.
SuperGamer also features box art with a PEGI 12 rating, which could be speculation on their part. PEGI’s website has no listing for Prime 4, although nearly every Metroid Prime title has a PEGI 12 rating.
Metroid Prime 4 was announced at E3 2017 with a short teaser trailer. After that fated day in 2017, Nintendo has spoken next to nothing about the project since. Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aimé said the game was “well in development” in November 2018.
Retro Studios, creators of the original Metroid Prime trilogy, is not involved in the project. Series producer Kensuke Tanabe is overseeing the game’s development team, which includes Bandai Namco Singapore. Nintendo fans believe there will be a Nintendo Direct sometime in January, and if that’s the case it may hold the key to the Metroid Prime 4 release date.
