yakuza kiwami coming to pc next month

Yakuza Kiwami PC release confirmed, is priced incredibly cheap

Another entry in the Yakuza series is heading to PC. Yakuza Kiwami, a remake of the first Yakuza title, is headed to Steam next month for a relatively cheap price.

SEGA confirmed today that Kiwami will be coming to PC on February 19th for the relatively low price of $17.99, or £15.99 in Europe. SEGA has also released a new trailer for the port which you can see below.

A PC release was confirmed last year at E3, but no info had come out about a release date. Back in November, the title did pop up on SteamDB, which tracks changes and new editions to the Steam store.

Yakuza Kiwami is a remake of the first Yakuza game, which was released way back in 2002. The remaster was built using the engine that was made for the final game in the series, Yakuza 6: The Song of Life. A remake of the second game, Yakuza Kiwami 2, was released back in August.

Yakuza 3, 4, and 5 will not be getting similar remakes. Series creator Toshihiro Nagoshi initially considered the idea, but said he considered the Kiwami remakes to be successful because they were remakes of PlayStation 2 era games, whereas the rest of the series was released on PlayStation 3.

Despite this, the other three titles have received remastered releases for the PS4. Yakuza 3 was released on August 9 in Japan, Yakuza 4 was released on January 17, and Yakuza 5 is set to be released in the Spring. There’s no word on a western release date for any of the remasters.

A new game called Judgement, which uses Yakuza 6’s engine and takes place within the same universe, was released last month in Japan and will hit western shelves later this year. Being described as a courtroom thriller, you’ll play as a lawyer named Yagami who turns into a detective in order to find truth within Kamurocho, which is also where the Yakuza games take place.

This will be the second Yakuza game to hit the PC. The first was Yakuza 0, which got a release last August.
