Darksiders Switch port is coming.

Darksiders Switch port accidentally confirmed by THQ Nordic, evidence pulled

If you are looking for a Zelda-inspired action-adventure game for the Nintendo Switch, then you are in luck. Darksiders: Warmastered Edition was accidentally confirmed by THQ Nordic this week. The Darksiders Switch port follows a 2017 Wii U port of the same game.

Nintendo Life reported that a trailer for the Darksiders Switch port was accessible directly on THQ Nordic’s website today. The new trailer featured Nintendo Switch and Nintendo eShop logos before THQ removed it after a few hours. Several people grabbed the video before it was taken down, and have since re-uploaded it on their own. In its place is a lovely GIF from the movie Naked Gun.

This isn’t the first time a Darksiders Switch port has been in the cards. A few weeks ago the Darksiders Twitter account suggested that the first game in the series would be coming to Nintendo Switch. THQ Nordic’s Twitter came down on that idea, using the same Naked Gun GIF as today. Whatever the case, it seems like a nearly definite case for Darksiders Switch to be happening.

Darksiders released in January 2010 for PS3 and Xbox 360. The Zelda-inspired game stars War, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. The game was well-received when it released and quickly garnered a dedicated following. Nordic bought the rights to Darksiders following THQ’s bankruptcy auction in 2013. Vigil Games, the original developers of Darksiders closed in early 2013 due to THQ’s bankruptcy. Many of the studio’s employees went on to found Gunfire Games, the developer of Darksiders 3.

Fans of the series are also hoping that Darksiders 2 will come to the Switch alongside the first game. Last year’s Darksiders 3 starred Fury but had a number of technical and gameplay problems holding it back. Darksiders 3 was the first in the series to be developed for current-gen consoles, with both Darksiders and Darksiders 2 targeting Xbox 360 and PS3.

The leaked Darksiders Switch trailer had no release date or pricing information attached, and THQ Nordic have yet to confirm the release.
