Cyberpunk 2077 beta

There will not be a Cyberpunk 2077 beta

Cyberpunk 2077 is at the top of a lot of gamers’ most-wanted lists, including ours, but no one has any clue about when it’s coming out nor what systems it’ll be on apart from PC. Nevertheless, a lot of people will be excited when it finally does get a firm release date, and all of them would give their front teeth to play it early. Unfortunately, they may not get the chance, as developer CD Projekt has confirmed that it will not be holding an open or closed Cyberpunk 2077 beta.

This according to the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account, so this information should be taken as official. The account was asked by a fan if, when the game goes to alpha or beta, whether the studio will hold it closed (just a select few people) or open (meaning everyone can play it). Unfortunately for anyone hoping to play Cyberpunk 2077 early, the reply was that CD Projekt has “no plans” for either an open or closed beta.

Undoubtedly there will be a beta of some sort, as it’s a natural part of the video game development process, but it will only be available internally for CD Projekt RED’s own testing department. This isn’t altogether surprising, of course. Generally speaking, the only games to get a public alpha or beta are titles with a strong multiplayer component, which of course needs testing on as wide a spectrum of machines and locations as possible. While there are rumors that Cyberpunk 2077 will have some sort of online multiplayer, nothing has been confirmed.

The only thing that is certain is that the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter feed will continue to give us helpful, solid information about the game, in the absence of any official press releases. Earlier this month, for example, it confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 would not be an Epic Games Store exclusive, which came as a relief to a lot of PC gamers. Can someone ask about a release date next, please?
