Cyberpunk 2077 is confirmed for E3 2019

Cyberpunk 2077 has been confirmed for E3 2019, with the highly anticipated game from CD Projekt Red set to make its way to the expo later this year. It had been heavily rumored that it would show up during the event, which will take place on June 11–13, though the game’s Twitter account has now made it official.

The confirmation was made in the tweet below:

Cyberpunk 2077 made an appearance during E3 2018, though only in a behind-closed-doors demo shown to journalists and gaming industry figures. Video footage of the gameplay demo was later uploaded to YouTube. We posted a rundown of everything highlighted in this 48-minute demo right here.

Developed by the team behind The Witcher 3Cyberpunk 2077 is arguably the most hotly anticipated release on the horizon. With CD Projekt Red likely set to push the limits of what current generation consoles are capable of, many have speculated that the game will instead launch on the next-gen PlayStation and Xbox consoles. Rumors suggest that the PS5 and next Xbox will both launch in 2020, meaning that Cyberpunk 2077‘s release could well coincide with this new hardware.

An open-world, story-driven RPG set in a Blade Runner-esque future, Cyberpunk 2077 places players in the shoes of V, a mercenary in Night City, California. V must navigate their way through their hostile environment, where the armed Psycho Squad is deployed to deal with the mounting violence in the city. Like The Witcher 3, players will be able to embark on romantic relationships with NPCs, while they’ll also be able to make decisions that affect the rest of the game.

Cyberpunk 2077 has yet to receive an official release date, so E3 2019 could see CD Projekt Red finally reveal when we’ll get to play it. Whether or not it appears on current- or next-gen consoles remains to be seen, though we should find out a lot more in June.
