Little Friends Dogs and Cats

Little Friends: Dogs and Cats brings adorable pets exclusively to Nintendo Switch

Miss Nintendogs? Well, Nintendo Switch owners will be able to get their fix for adorable virtual pets with Little Friends Dogs and Cats exclusively on the Nintendo Switch very soon. Their announcement on a brand-new Twitter account for the game gives us a first look at all of the cool things you can do with your virtual cat and dog friends in this upcoming title from Japanese developer Imagineer.

In Little Friends Dogs and Cats, players will be able to take care of their very own virtual dog or kitten. You’ll have a variety of different breeds to select from like Black Labradors, German Shepherds, and the adorable Shiba Inu. Although dogs were the focus of the game’s announcement trailer, there are also a few cat breeds to choose from, too. (I don’t know enough about cats to specify which ones these are.)

Of course, there’s a little more to Little Friends Dogs and Cats than just staring at a screen with a cute pupper on it. You can take dogs for walks where you’ll have to run a certain distance, let them sniff around, and mark trees to show who owns the neighborhood. You’ll also be able to throw a frisbee with them in a special arena. More idle activities are available like playing with cat toys or simply petting your puppy or kitten.

Aside from caring for and playing with your virtual pet, you can also dress them up in a variety of cute outfits and purchase pieces of furniture for them to interact with. There appears to be some sort of currency system in the game judging by the trailer. We don’t yet know how it works, but it’s reasonable to assume that you’ll earn in-game currency by completing activities with your pets. There are also three different photo icons that haven’t yet been explained, so who knows what those are all about.

Little Friends Dogs and Cats will be coming to the Nintendo Switch sometime soon. No price or release date has been announced.
