Sekiro player count reaches 100k concurrents on Steam

Sekiro Shadows Die Twice player count has surged to over 100,000 concurrent players during its launch on Steam. In the first 24 hours, FromSoftware’s latest title has accrued 100,254 players at its peak. The achievement puts Sekiro Shadows Die Twice player count at fourth for concurrent players on Steam games right now.

Sekiro Shadows Die Twice player count is significant not only for its speedy rise to the high of 100,000, but also its performance against competitors. Sekiro has now topped the launch of Devil May Cry 5, a game which has only reached an all-time peak of 88,735 thus far. The game’s position at number four for the current player count is made all the more impressive by the titles immediately below it. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege comes in at #5 with 96,045. Grand Theft Auto V is #6 with 88,606. Sekiro Shadows Die Twice is only beaten by the hugely-popular titles CS:GO, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, and Dota 2.

Sekiro Shadows Die Twice was recently in the news ahead of launch. In Germany, a Reddit user explained how they had managed to acquire the game early from a local media store. The player provided photographic evidence of their early purchase along with Sekiro running on their TV. FromSoftware appears to be somewhat breaking its Soulsborne formula with the new Activision published title, Sekiro Shadows Die Twice. While still taking from the studio’s trademark methodical style and storytelling, one change for Sekiro is multiplayer. The shinobi slasher does not include any summoning, invading, or other kinds of player-versus-player elements from the Dark Souls series or Bloodborne.
