CD Projekt hiring

CD Projekt hiring 250 new employees for GOG and CD Projekt Red

CD Projekt hiring 250 new employees was announced as part of its future plans at the company’s annual investor conference. The hiring strategy will include the creation of 250 new positions at CD Projekt’s digital distribution platform GOG and development studio CD Projekt Red. The annual investor conference included further news about the company’s financial performance and future strategy.

The company recently purchased a new office building in Warsaw, Poland. CD Projekt CFO Piotr Nielubowicz explained the 3,000 square meters of office space would facilitate this latest round of hiring. He stated,  “We will probably be able to provide 250 new jobs for CD Projekt Red and GOG.” The announcement comes despite the company having performed negatively against last year’s profit and revenue. CD Projekt revenue this year was €85 million, down from €109 million in 2018. While the profits dropped over €20 million from last year down to €25.6 million in 2019. The discrepancy could potentially be attributed to the company focusing more on research and development. CD Projekt president Adam Kicinski spoke on the company’s R&D spending, “Over the past year we greatly expanded our creative potential, both in Warsaw and at the Kraków studio.”

One of the company’s most significant projects is CD Projekt Red’s upcoming Cyberpunk 2077. At the conference, Kicinski described E3 2019 as “the most important E3” in the company’s history. CD Projekt revealed the marketing for the game had reached over 250 million people thus far through the use of its own media channels, as well as working with influencers.

Other news coming out of the conference included the reveal that The Witcher card game Gwent would be coming to mobile devices in fall 2019. The Gwent mobile version will first come to iPhone before an Android version follows later. There was good news for the Gwent spin-off Thronebreaker, which along with The Witcher 3 managed to generate over $28.6 million in net profit for the studio in 2018.
