[Update]: Konami has confirmed that yes, Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection is real and will bundle together "Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: HD Edition, Metal Gear Solid 3: HD Edition (which includes the original MSX versions of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2), Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD Edition, Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions and Metal Gear Solid 4: Trophy Edition. In addition, the collection will also include two Ashley Wood digital graphic novels."
That's a whole lot of Metal Gear.
The publisher's president, Tomoyuki Tsuboi, added, "We wanted to give Metal Gear Solid fans the opportunity to experience the series from beginning to end, all on one console. With the collection's multiple titles, players can truly see how Metal Gear Solid evolved into the critically acclaimed and beloved franchise it is today."
The game will be available for the PlayStation 3 this June. Still no word on pricing, so stay tuned.
[Original Story]: The Korean game ratings board has listed a title called Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection.
NeoGAF member raven777 discovered the listing and snapped a screenshot of the page. Interestingly enough, MGS creator Hideo Kojima just recently posted the following image on Twitter, featuring the the Metal Gear Solid logo and a collage of Snakes from prior entries in the series.
You'll notice that every main entry in the franchise (from MGS1 to Peace Walker) is represented in the image. If this is in fact tied to the listing on the Korean ratings board, perhaps a massive collection of all five games is on its way. That certainly would be a great way to prepare gamers for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain when it eventually releases.
