Rebellion has revealed the date when Sniper Elite V2 Remastered shoots its way into stores. The remaster of the 2012 sniping game hits PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC on May 14.
When it launches, Sniper Elite V2 Remastered will be available via both digital, and physical releases. The latter will be coming though distributor Sold Out. The game will retail for $34.99, but players who pre-order the digital edition will receive a 10% discount. Additionally, players who already own the original 2012 release can simply upgrade it for $9.99.
Originally released in 2012, Sniper Elite V2 puts players in the boots of American OSS officer Lieutenant Karl Fairburne. The lieutenant has been inserted into Berlin during the last days of World War 2. Here, he must track down and key figures in the development of Germany’s V2 ballistic missile. In his path are both Nazis wanting to defend their secrets and Soviets hoping to claim those secrets for themselves.
In addition to the main campaign, Sniper Elite V2 also came with online multiplayer where players can engage in various co-op missions. Later on, three Zombie Army expansion packs were also released for the game that featured new playable characters.
Sniper Elite V2 Remastered brings back seven of the new characters from these Zombie Army expansions. It also expands the multiplayer to 16 players on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and up to 8 players on Switch.
Of course, being a remaster, the game also adds graphical updates such as new level geometry, enhanced textures, and support for 4K and HDR. Additionally, A brand new photo mode puts these changes front and center. This mode allows players to take screenshots of the game in action, and even allows them to go frame-by-frame to get the perfect shot.
To help drive home how much the game’s graphics have improved, Rebellion have released a new trailer comparing Sniper Elite V2 Remastered to the original.
