Reggie Fils-Aime receives special amiibo, Virtual Boy, and more from Nintendo

As he promised earlier this year, Reggie Fils-Aime took his leave from Nintendo. He’s worked there for well over a decade and a half, and seen the company from the highs of the Wii to the lows of the Wii U. Alas, he retired and this week marked his final day in office. Fortunately, he went out with some gifts from Nintendo.

As noted on his newly established Twitter account, Fils-Aime posted some great retirement gifts from his fellow workers at Nintendo. They certainly sent him off in style, with everything from a plaque to a notebook to an actual Virtual Boy.

“Last of my retirement events was last night. Received some wonderful gifts and souvenirs. Yes, that is a working Virtual Boy. Art from Retro Studios. Notebook for names taken. A plastic ass to kick. A book of notes from employees. And a Mario statue. End of an era,” he said. You can see the gifts in the tweet below.

There’s a great plaque in there, with autographs from a bunch of people at Nintendo. Reggie is also featured in a picture, surrounded by great Nintendo characters like Samus from Metroid and Donkey Kong. There is a notebook with a picture of the “Regginator” from the Mega64 sketch a few years back, where he shoots lasers out of his eyes.

Then there’s a beautiful Mario statue, complete with a transcription on it. “Congratulations on your retirement and years of dedicated service,” it reads. “From all your friends at Nintendo and fans around the world.”

And last but certainly not least came a round of gifts that reminded him of the late Satoru Iwata. You can see those below along with a custom Satoru Iwata amiibo from GandaKris.
