Electronic Arts Has “No Games In Development For The Wii U” [Update: Looks Like They Do After All]

[Update] Electronic Arts' comments have been all over the place reagarding the Wii U lately. After saying that no games are currently in development for the console, the company has doubled back to say that actually isn't the case.

According to EA CFO, Blake Jorgensen, during the Stifel Nicolaus 2013 Internet Media and Communications Conference, the company does have games in the works for the Wii U. There may not be many in development, but there are at least a few.

[Original] Mega publisher Electronic Arts doesn't have anything in development for Wii U at the moment.

“We have no games in development for the Wii U currently,” EA's Jeff Brown told Kotaku. While this certainly doesn't paint a rosy picture for the future of Nintendo's console from a third-party perspective, this news should hardly come as a surprise, especially in the wake of EA's declaration that the device wouldn't be getting Madden this year.

Perhaps this has something to do with the fact that Frostbite 3 won't run on Wii U. Or maybe Nintendo's underwhelming install base is what has the publisher disinterested. Whatever it is, the Big N better have some quality first-party stuff in the pipeline, because they're not getting much external help on the software front.
