Watch Dogs Legion news, release date, setting, leaks

Nearly three years after Watch Dogs 2 released, it’s about time Ubisoft revealed Watch Dogs 3. Following a series of Watch Dogs 3 leaks, however, we know more about the upcoming Watch Dogs Legion than we should. Read on for a whole lot of Watch Dogs Legion news, plus some other tidbits. Below, you’ll find information regarding the Watch Dogs Legion release date, the Watch Dogs Legion setting, Watch Dogs Legion leaks, and more. This Watch Dogs Legion hub is your one-stop shop for everything Watch Dogs 3. Please remember, however, that as of writing, nothing here has been confirmed by Ubisoft.

Watch Dogs Legion leaks

Watch Dogs Legion News

Before we get into the details regarding the potential Watch Dogs Legion release date, our first batch of Watch Dogs Legion news comes in the form of Watch Dogs Legion leaks. Widely expected to be revealed at Ubisoft’s E3 2019 conference next week, Watch Dogs Legion has been heavily leaked.

Previously, we reported that Watch Dogs 3 might take place in London. According to these brand-new leaks, it appears as though Watch Dogs 3 will indeed be set in London and will be titled Watch Dogs Legion. Twitter account Wario64 noted that Watch Dogs Legion was listed on Amazon UK (the page has since been deleted). Reliable journalist Jason Schreier has since confirmed the leaks on both Twitter and Kotaku. The Amazon UK listing gave some key details away regarding the game’s name, platforms, setting, and more.

The most interesting Watch Dogs Legion leak, however, suggests that you will be able to play as anyone you recruit in the game. Amazon UK’s description noted that you can “play as anyone, Every individual you meet in the open world.” It seems like you will be able to play as anyone and everyone you see in Watch Dogs Legion, which is wild. This too was confirmed by Schreier. Every person in the game will be playable, with their own voices, animations, character traits, and more. Hopefully, Ubisoft can confirm more at E3.

Watch Dogs Legion release date

Watch Dogs Legion News

Unfortunately, the Watch Dogs Legion release date wasn’t leaked along with its gameplay details and setting. We can, however, make some assumptions as to its potential release date here. It wouldn’t be surprising at all to see Watch Dogs Legion release at the end of 2019. Ubisoft confirmed that there won’t be an Assassin’s Creed title released this year, so it seems as though Watch Dogs Legion will instead take its place. Or at least, we wouldn’t be shocked to find that it has.

Watch Dogs 2 has a November release date back in 2016, therefore, a November 2019 Watch Dogs Legion release date does not sound farfetched at all. Don’t be let down, however, if Ubisoft confirms that the Watch Dogs Legion release date is Q1 2020 or even summer 2020. We’d argue that you should go into Ubisoft’s E3 2019 presser with an expectation of a Watch Dogs Legion November or December 2019 release date, however.

Watch Dogs Legion setting

Watch Dogs Legion News

As stated above, it has been rumored for a while now that Watch Dogs 3 is set in London. Now, we can take it as all but confirmed that the Watch Dogs Legion setting is indeed London. Ubisoft has gone to London before in the likes of ZombiU and Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, so it won’t be too much of a surprise here. The above mentioned Amazon UK game listing explained more.

Watch Dogs Legion is set in the post-Brexit, near-future vision of London. Supposedly it is a dystopian vision where politics, technology, and society have altered dramatically, changing London’s fortunes. According to the Amazon UK listing, “London makes total sense” for Watch Dogs. “The city has one of the highest surveillance levels in the world.” It seems as though Ubisoft is expecting London to be “the perfect playground” for Watch Dogs fans.

As of writing, we don’t know anything about the setting other than it is supposedly in London. Whether this means we’ll be able to explore the entirety of London, or just particular areas is unclear. Expect Ubisoft to announce everything at its E3 2019 press conference. Fingers crossed we can head inside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Again, Ubisoft should hopefully confirm and expand on what we already know about Watch Dogs Legion thanks to these leaks. London should prove to be a good playground for the Watch Dogs gameplay and hacking. It is a tech-savvy city with surveillance cameras just about everywhere you look. Millions live in London, however. It will be interesting to see just how detailed Watch Dogs Legion’s play as anyone hook will be here, if it does indeed turn out to be true.

Watch Dogs Legion platforms

Watch Dogs Legion News

Another unknown when it comes to Watch Dogs Legion is the platforms it will be available on. We are fully expecting Watch Dogs Legion to be available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, however. The PS4 was listed on Amazon’s leaked product page at least. Watch Dogs Legion may well release on next-generation consoles, too.

It seems as though both Microsoft and Sony are building up towards the next generation. We wouldn’t be surprised to see that Watch Dogs Legion is announced for them both at a later date. Sadly, for Nintendo fans, we are not expecting Watch Dogs Legion to be available on Nintendo Switch. While the original Watch Dogs released on Wii U, Watch Dogs 2 did not, and it hasn’t released on Switch, either. Ubisoft’s recent games have tended not to release on Switch. Watch Dogs Legion will likely not break this tradition.

Expect Watch Dogs Legion to be released on PS4, Xbox One, and PC within the next 12 months. A potential next-gen port may well happen in the future, too. Watch this space.
