Destiny 2 Shadowkeep DLC expansion leaked

Destiny 2 Shadowkeep DLC expansion leaked

It seems that new Destiny 2 DLC is on its way. Data miners found files in the PC version of the game pointing to Destiny 2 Shadowkeep, the “next chapter” in Bungie’s sci-fi sequel. The new expansion encourages players to “become a slayer of nightmares.”

ResetEra user Starset found an image in the files of the game’s PC version. The image states that the DLC expansion will be coming in the fall. More importantly, it hints that preorders for it will be available as soon as the expansion is announced, with the image stating: “Available for pre-purchase today.”

Dataminers found this image in Destiny 2's PC version

The DLC expansion focuses on mysterious events occurring in a “forgotten moon” that seems to be Earth’s own. The game has been hinting a return to the moon in recent months, and this could be the culmination of that. Additionally, the text also points to a “mysterious enemy citadel.” This may be the titular “Shadowkeep” which will probably be a raid in the expansion.

Destiny 2 getting an expansion this fall may be a surprise to some. With Bungie acquiring Destiny 2‘s publishing rights, the company is now free from Activision’s release schedule. As such, some folks may have assumed that the company would take more time in releasing one.

Of note is the fact that the announcement image does not state that Shadowkeep is part of a third-year annual pass. This, on top of the fact that it clearly calls it the “next chapter in the Destiny experience” does seem to indicate that this is a full expansion similar to Curse of OsirisWarmind, and Forsaken.

With E3 just around the corner, it’s likely we’ll be getting an official reveal for Destiny 2 Shadowkeep on or before the event. Not only that, we’ll also likely learn more about Destiny 2‘s future now that its back in the hands of Bungie.
