Red Dead Redemption 2 was released on Xbox One and PS4 last year to much acclaim, and many players are still working their way through it now, either thanks to Red Dead Online, or just the fact that it’s a gigantic game. However, in the last eight months one platform’s players have been continually left in the dark, and that’s due to the lack of information on the inevitable Red Dead Redemption 2 PC release. However, while Rockstar and 2K still haven’t announced the PC port, one observant fan seems to have discovered a reference to it on Rockstar’s own Social Club website.
Twitter user JakoMako51 was investigating the source code of the Rockstar Social Club page (as you do) and discovered a curious line in the site’s code, which seems to be referencing the Rockstar Social Club PC version of achievements, except for Red Dead Redemption 2. The line “RDR2_PC_Accomplishments” can clearly be seen in the site’s code, alongside references to PS4 trophies and Xbox One achievements. It certainly seems to indicate that Rockstar is at least planning for a PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2, even if this is far from a confirmation.

For one, while Grand Theft Auto 5 also has a reference to “accomplishments” in the code (which are indeed Rockstar’s own equivalent of achievements), it’s simply called GTAV_Accomplishments, with no PC version specified. In fact, the only other reference to PC in the code is ironically a confirmation that Red Dead Redemption 2 is not on PC: “get special in-game benefits for Grand Theft Auto Online on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or PC and Red Dead Online for PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.”
It’s certainly not the only supposed “leak” of a PC release for Red Dead Redemption 2 players have had, with supposed PC gameplay, a developer posting about the PC version on his LinkedIn page, and the game’s companion app suggesting a PC release too. A PC port of Red Dead 2 seems inevitable at this point, but the big question is: when’s it actually coming out?
