A Red Dead Redemption 2 player has modded the game to swap Arthur Morgan’s character model for various bird species. The Red Dead Redemption 2 bird mod features all of each bird’s animations and sound effects, implemented properly to allow for flight all around the game’s map.
YouTuber jedijosh920 published a video of the Red Dead Redemption 2 bird mod late last week, titled. In the 24-minute video, jedijosh920 flies several different birds around Red Dead Redemption 2’s diverse locales. The video begins with a bright blue and yellow macaw fluttering through the jungle’s treetops and jumps between other birds, like a vulture and some kind of eagle.

Since the mod simply swaps Arthur’s model for the birds, NPCs appear to still react as they would to Arthur at some points. About 8:45 into the video, jedijosh920 flies through a group of armed men as a vulture, one of them exclaims, “Who is this clown,” and they proceed to shoot the bird to death. NPC audio also sounds weirdly close to the birds, even if they’re 50 feet in the air. Still, the mod seems mostly well implemented as it gives a literal bird’s-eye view of the world. Particularly engrossing is the clip that begins around 18:48, where jedijosh920 flies a vulture into clouds.
This isn’t the first Red Dead Redemption 2 model swap mod jedijosh920 has created. He previously released a video of a mod that swaps Arthur with a bear. A video posted just yesterday replaces the player model with John Marston’s kid son, Jack Marston. Jack’s arms are hilariously too short to land punches, but he handles a gun with disturbing ease. Jedijosh920 has also created mods for various other games, including one that replaces Spider-Man PS4’s player model with Miles Morales.
Unfortunately, since many of these mods are for console games without readily available modding tools, jedijosh’s mods are not publicly available. Until a Red Dead Redemption 2 PC release, we’ll just have to keep enjoying jedijosh920’s wacky, mesmerizing videos.
